Your Perfect Start
Where to start?
Starting Last War: Survival Game can be challenging: there are many mechanics, tasks, and development opportunities. To avoid mistakes that could slow down your progress, we have prepared a guide on the key aspects of the game. By following these tips, you will be able to adapt quickly and achieve success.
1. Choosing a Server and Alliance
Server
When starting the game, you are automatically placed on the latest created server. Determining server activity and member composition immediately is very difficult — this requires time and personal observation of the game chat and rankings. It is important to understand that migration to another server will only become available after the end of the first season, so if the current world does not suit you, you will have to start your progress from scratch on a new server. You will have to evaluate the situation "by eye", carefully studying the top Alliances in the leaderboard.
Alliance
The opportunity to join an Alliance opens after upgrading the Headquarters to level 4 and building the Alliance Support Hub. We recommend joining an existing strong Alliance rather than creating your own. When choosing, focus on the following criteria:
- Ranking: Look for Alliances in the server's TOP-7.
- Number of members: Ideally — more than 90 people, which guarantees high activity and mutual assistance.
- Gift Level: This is a key indicator of activity; the higher the Gift Level, the more bonuses all members receive.
- Experienced leadership: The presence of R4 rank officers indicates good organization.
- Player Name: Change the standard name "Commander123456" to a proper one immediately. Top Alliances almost never accept players with digital nicknames, considering them inactive beginners.
2. Choosing Heroes for the First Squad
Your first squad should consist of five heroes: two defenders in the front line and three attackers or support heroes in the back.
Heroes in the game are divided into three main categories by quality:
- UR (Gold): The strongest heroes in the game with maximum stats, however, most of them do not become available immediately.
- SSR (Purple): A good choice for the initial stage of base development and forming the first full squad.
- SR (Blue): We do not recommend focusing on their development or spending rare resources on them, as they quickly lose relevance.
Recommended heroes for the starting lineup:
- Murphy (UR): Main Tank specializing in defense. This is the most accessible gold hero, obtainable via Elite Recruitment in the Tavern on the very first day of the server.
- Monica (SSR): Support hero specialized in PvE content. She must be rescued on the first day of the game; she is indispensable for efficient farming of resources from monsters and Doom Elites.
- Mason (SSR): Attack hero who significantly increases Tank damage. He is very useful at the start, and in Season 1 of the game, he can be upgraded to the UR category.
- Violet (SSR): Reliable defender for the front line. Like Mason, she will get the opportunity to upgrade to UR class, but this will happen later, in Season 2.
- Kimberly (UR): Powerful attack hero available for purchase in the store for a symbolic fee (~$2) from day one.
- If you do not plan to spend money: Instead of Kimberly, add any other attacking SSR hero (Tank) to the squad.
- When to wait: Recruiting Kimberly for free in the Tavern using tickets will only be possible on the 60th day of the server's life.
Tip: In the early stages, it is most profitable to focus on developing heroes of one type (for example, Tanks), as this gives additional bonuses to the stats of the entire squad.
3. Beginner Tasks: Pioneer Goal
This is a large-scale event available from the very start of the game, serving as the main tool for rapid development and learning mechanics.
General Marathon Rules:
- Duration: The marathon lasts for seven days.
- Gradual Opening: New tasks appear daily for the first five days.
- Structure: Every day, three sections with tasks open up; completing them awards you resources, experience, and special rewards.
- Deadline: Note that it is not necessary to complete tasks on the exact day they open. They remain available for completion until the very end of the 7-day period.
- Difficulty: The list contains many very simple tasks, but there are also truly difficult goals requiring concentrated effort.
Key Challenges and Risks:
- Upgrading Headquarters to Level 17: This is the hardest goal. To make it in time, you need to focus only on the Headquarters and the buildings necessary for it.
- Daily Login Cycle: One task requires logging into the game for 5 days. If you miss 3 days out of the seven available, you will not have time to close this cycle.
- Arena: Requires 20 victories in the Rookie Camp challenge. Since only 5 free attempts are given per day, completion will take at least 4 days.
Detailed Task Plan by Day:
Day 1: Building the Foundation
- Daily Login: You need to log into the system for 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 days.
Tip: Try not to miss days at the beginning of the game to guarantee claiming the highest reward. - Base Building: It is required to bring the Headquarters to level 17.
Tip: Do not waste time on decor or mines above the required level, as this is the most time-consuming task of the marathon. - Clear the Quarter: You need to clear quarters No. 10, 20, 30, 60, and 100 of zombies.
Tip: Be sure to rescue Monica (SSR) in the first 24 hours; she will become your best hero for PvE farming.
Day 2: Activity and Heroes
- Radar Scouting: Complete radar tasks 10, 20, 40, 70, and 110 times.
Tip: Tasks appear every 6 hours; clear the radar regularly so the accumulation scale does not overflow. - Arena Challenge: Complete the trial in the Rookie Camp 3, 6, 10, 15, and 20 times.
Tip: Start fighting immediately on the second day, as the limit of free attempts is limited to five per day. - Hero Level Up: Requires having 5 heroes of level 30 and 50, as well as one hero of level 80.
Tip: Focus all experience on Murphy (UR) as the main Tank of the first squad.
Day 3: Military Training
-
Unit Training: Train 50, 100, 300, 600, and 1200 units.
Tip: Do not let the barracks stand idle; constant training is the main source of your Power. -
Elite Units: Upgrade Barracks to level 17 following the Headquarters.
Tip: A high level of barracks is necessary to open T5 and T6 units, which is critical for the "Light of Hope" event. -
Alliance Help: Help allies 10, 50, 100, 200, and 300 times.
Tip: Join an active TOP alliance, and you will complete this task in a matter of hours simply by clicking the help button.
Day 4: Technology and Supply
-
Tech Research: Upgrade tech 5, 10, 15, 30, and 60 times.
Tip: Prioritize the "Development" branch to unlock the extra (3rd) Barracks as quickly as possible. -
The Drone: Upgrade the Drone to level 30.
Tip: Buy components with diamonds in the VIP Store, and actively farm Combat Data from Doom Elites. -
Recruit Heroes: Recruit heroes 10, 20, 50, 100, and 150 times.
Tip: Use all accumulated Legendary Recruitment Tickets to strengthen your first squad.
Day 5: Global Rush
-
Rally Combat: Defeat any Doom Elite 5, 10, 20, 30, and 50 times.
Tip: Join ally rallies; this allows you to complete the task without consuming your own stamina. -
Power Boost: Reach 100k, 200k, 500k, 1M, and 2,000,000 Total Power.
Tip: This task completes automatically if you actively upgraded your Headquarters, heroes, and tech in previous days. -
Rapid Development: Use 100, 200, 500, 1000, and 3000 minutes of speedups.
Tip: Use speedups for the final push to Headquarters Level 17 or to finish long tech researches.
Pioneer Rewards: For each completed action, you receive Pioneer Badges, which can be exchanged in a special store for Hero Shards. An active VIP status is mandatory to obtain Murphy shards.

4. "Light of Hope" Event and Recommendations
The main goal of this event is to reach 4,500,000 Combat Power (CP) to obtain the legendary weapon M5-A Railgun
. This artifact will provide a colossal advantage to your first squad at the start.
Ways to Gain Combat Power
Reaching such a high power benchmark requires a comprehensive approach. There are two main paths in the game:
- Main Path: Base Development. Your #1 priority is upgrading the Headquarters and Barracks to level 17. This is the strategic foundation that allows you to unlock new technologies and stronger troop types (T5 and higher). This process runs parallel to completing "Pioneer Target" tasks, which push you toward the correct development path.
- Secondary Method: Mini-game Mechanics. This is an effective tactic for a sharp jump in CP at the end of the event.
- How it works: By completing levels in "Falcon Operation" and "Special Ops", you get free soldiers. Their level is always equal to the maximum available to you at the time of completion.
- The Trick: If you complete them immediately (at T1), the power increase will be meager. Wait until T5 units are unlocked, and only then claim rewards in mini-games — this will give an instant and powerful boost of high-level troops.
Additional Resource Tips
- Resource Chests: The contents of chests in your inventory grow with your Headquarters level. Open them only when you lack resources for current construction. Save choice chests for Gold — there will be an acute shortage of it in the future.
- Diamonds: Spend them primarily on activating VIP status and Drone components. VIP1 allows you to collect resources of one type with a single click, which significantly saves time.
- Hero EXP: Blue EXP chests should also be saved. The higher the Headquarters level, the more EXP you get from a single chest.
Summary and Conclusions: Your Perfect Start
An effective start in the game requires a clear focus on development and social integration. The main formula for success is not to build everything at once, but to follow strategic priorities.
- Social Foundation: Change your numeric name to a custom one and join a TOP-7 alliance immediately after building the Alliance Center at Headquarters level 4. This will provide you with protection, access to gifts, and fast assistance in construction.
- Priority #1 — Base Development: Your sole goal for the first week is upgrading the Headquarters and Barracks to level 17. Do not waste time on secondary buildings unless they are required to upgrade the Headquarters level.
- Technological Leap: In the Tech Center, follow the shortest path in the "Development" branch to unlock the extra (3rd) Barracks as quickly as possible. This is critical for gaining Combat Power.
- Combat Power (CP) Secret: To meet the "Light of Hope" event goal (4.5 million CP), do not play mini-games ("Falcon Operation", "Special Ops") immediately. Wait until T5 troops are unlocked to get the maximum number of high-level soldiers for free. The main CP growth will happen in parallel through Headquarters development and completing "Pioneer Target".
- Hero Development: Focus EXP on your first squad. Raise Murphy to level 80 and the other heroes to 50. Be sure to save Monica on the first day for effective PvE farming. If you do not plan to purchase Kimberly, use any attacking SSR tank unit until she appears in the Tavern on day 60.
- Resource Management:
- Diamonds: Spend them primarily on activating VIP status (at least for a week for the start) and Drone components.
- Chests: Do not open resource and EXP chests "just in case". Their contents scale with your Headquarters level, so use them only when you are short for a specific upgrade.
- Gold: Save choice chests for Gold, as there will be an acute shortage of it in the future for researching technologies.
