Proper Training — Key to Victory!

Barracks Secret: Step-by-Step Unit Training Strategy

In survival strategy games like Last War, the winner is the one who uses game mechanics more effectively.

Most players make a critical mistake: they always train troops directly to the maximum level. This is a huge loss of points!

In this guide, we will cover a strategy that will allow you to get 3-4 times more points in the "Arms Race" and "Duel VS" events, simply by changing your approach to Barracks management.

The Core Method: Why Does It Work?

The strategy is based on two key game mechanics that beginners often forget:

  • Points for Starting: In events, points are awarded at the moment you start training or promoting units. The game values promoting a unit (e.g., from T8 to T9) just as highly as training a new T9 unit from scratch.
  • Barracks Limit: You can train a unit of any level, but you can only promote it up to the maximum level of your current Barracks.

Main Takeaway: It is more profitable not to create top-tier soldiers immediately, but to guide each unit up the "career ladder," earning reward points for every step of its development.

Step 1. Proper Barracks Setup

To implement this pipeline, you need to have 4 Barracks of strictly defined levels. Do not rush to upgrade them all to the maximum!

Recommended Scheme ("Ladder"):

  • Barracks #1 (Level 27): Training Limit — T9.
  • Barracks #2 (Level 24): Training Limit — T8.
  • Barracks #3 (Level 20): Training Limit — T7.
  • Barracks #4 (Level 17): Training Limit — T6.

Important: Each Barracks is now responsible for its own section of work. If you upgrade all Barracks to level 27, you will lose the ability to efficiently create intermediate troops (T6-T7), and the strategy will stop working.

Step 2. Preparing Reserves (Outside Events)

During normal times, when there is no target event active, your task is to create reserves, so-called "semi-finished units". You always set training to one level lower than the specific Barracks allows.

  • In the Level 17 Barracks (can make T6) — train T5.
  • In the Level 20 Barracks (max T7) — train T6.
  • In the Level 24 Barracks (max T8) — train T7.
  • In the Level 27 Barracks (max T9) — train T8.

By the start of the event, you will have thousands of units of different levels in stock, ready for instant improvement.

Step 3. Harvesting Rewards (During Events)

When the target event starts, you launch the promotion pipeline using the Barracks limitation:

  1. Go to Barracks #1 (lvl 27), select the reserved T8 and press "Promote to T9".
  2. Go to Barracks #2 (lvl 24), take T7 and press "Promote to T8".
  3. Go to Barracks #3 (lvl 20), take T6 and press "Promote to T7".
  4. And so on down the chain.

After the points are received, you return the troops to the preparation cycle (Step 2) for the next time.

When Should You Use This Strategy?

It is important to understand the event schedule so as not to waste resources. There are two key moments:

1. Arms Race
The event is divided into 4-hour blocks. You need to wait for the specific "Unit Progression" block. As soon as the timer starts, go in and massively promote your reserves.

2. Duel VS
On Friday, the event runs all day. This is the best day for mass promoting your entire army.

Tip: The ideal moment occurs on Friday, when the 4-hour training block in the "Arms Race" coincides with the Friday "Duel VS". During these hours, by launching promotions, you get double benefits, closing chests in two top events at once!

The Math of Profit

Let's calculate the difference using a simple example of training 100 units:

Option A: Standard (Straight to T9)

  • Training T9 from scratch: 2,800 points.
  • Total: 2,800 points.

Option B: "Ladder" Strategy

  • Promoting T5 → T6: 1,900 points.
  • Promoting T6 → T7: 2,200 points.
  • Promoting T7 → T8: 2,500 points.
  • Promoting T8 → T9: 2,800 points.
  • Total: 9,400 points.

Result: You received 3.3 times more points while spending practically the same amount of resources and speedups.

Unit Progression

Conclusion

By using step-by-step training, you don't just save effort, you play smarter. Yes, this method requires a little more attention and extra clicks than the simple "set and forget" approach.

However, the 3-4 times point advantage allows you to consistently claim all 3 reward chests in the Arms Race without spending money. Check your Barracks levels right now — it might be time to start rebuilding!
