Last War Season 1 Survival Guide: Tips and Preparation
Season 1 in Last War: Survival unlocks access to new resources, buildings, and opportunities. To maximize your benefits and stay ahead in progression, it’s crucial to follow the right strategy from day one. This article compiles key tips and tricks to help you launch effectively and progress quickly throughout the new season.
Table of Contents
Main Goal: Virus Resistance
Your primary priority is to upgrade the Virus Research Institute as quickly as possible. Each level increases your Virus Resistance, which directly impacts your combat efficiency against seasonal enemies like the Doom Elite.
To upgrade the Institute, you need Immune Protein
, which is produced at Protein Farms. To develop these farms, you will need Mutant Crystals
— a rare resource that is vital to start collecting as early as possible. At the start of the season, your entire strategy should focus on the following tasks:
- Build and maximize all available Protein Farms.
- Actively farm Mutant Crystals
. - Increase Virus Resistance to minimize combat losses.
Season Boosts
The event offers players a few new, though not strictly essential, buffs. The developers have selected four heroes who receive a combat power boost when hunting PvE targets:
- Mason — Increase Damage to Monsters by 5%.
- Kimberly — Increase Damage to Monsters by 5%.
- DVA — Increase Damage to Monsters by 5%.
- Tesla — Increase Damage to Monsters by 5%.
The premium Pumpkin Cauldron Base skin stands apart. Its price tag can reach up to $400, and for most Commanders, such an investment simply isn't worth it.
Here is what this skin offers:
- Permanent Virus limit +50.
- Unlocks the Virus Surge active Base skill.
- Includes a social mechanic: any Commander who likes your base will receive a Pumpkin Gift (which contains 5 speedups).
Giving away gifts is a great way to quickly farm likes from players across all season servers. However, it won't bring any tangible benefits in the global war, so whether it's worth emptying your wallet for this is entirely up to you.
Battle Passes: Are They Worth It?
If you are willing to invest in the game, Battle Passes are the most effective way to accelerate your seasonal progress. They provide access to resources and bonuses that are critical at the start.
Pass Options
- Season Battle Pass
- Free: Basic reward set.
- Premium ($10): Unlocks access to a large amount of valuable resources.
- Luxury ($20): Doubles the rewards and unlocks the rarest items.
- Weekly Pass ($5 for 7 days)
- Provides daily Mutant Crystals, speedups, and energy.
- Bonus: Allows the use of a 5th Protein Farm while active.
- Protection: Boosts Virus Resistance by +250 while active.
Why Buy the Premium or Luxury Pass?
Key rewards include:
- Mutant Crystals

- Profession EXP Books

- UR Universal Hero Fragments and Recruitment Tickets

- Profession Skill Points (S1)

- Profession Reset and Change items

- Custom Nameplate with a +1000 Hero HP bonus
The starting pack of Mutant Crystals is especially valuable, as it allows you to instantly kickstart your Protein Farm development.
The Bottom Line: With a small investment, you get a massive resource boost and independent progression. Otherwise, you’ll constantly find yourself relying on the pace and help of stronger alliance members just to keep from falling behind entirely. If you plan to play a key role in your alliance and be active in combat, getting a pass is a solid, justified move.
How to Develop Protein Farms
Protein Farms are your primary source of Immune Protein
. Building and upgrading them should be a top priority from the very first hours of the season.
How to Unlock Farms
- 1st Farm: Available immediately.
- 2nd Farm: Unlocks when the 1st farm reaches Level 5.
- 3rd Farm: Unlocks when the 2nd farm reaches Level 10.
- 4th Farm: Unlocks when the 3rd farm reaches Level 10.
- 5th Farm: Only available with an active Weekly Pass.
How to Upgrade
The maximum level for each farm is 30. Each level increases Immune Protein
production by 720 units per hour, but the upgrade cost in Mutant Crystals
also rises.
Pro Tip: Don’t rush to max out a single farm. It is much more efficient to upgrade all available farms evenly. This will provide higher total productivity for fewer resources.
Defeating Doom Elite: How to Avoid Losses
For the first defeat of each Doom Elite level, you receive a significant amount of Mutant Crystals
. However, with low Virus Resistance, you will suffer massive losses even in the event of a victory.
The Best Approach:
- Don’t start rallies blindly if your resistance is lower than required. Most likely, allies won't even notice the attack and are unlikely to join in.
- Ask for help directly from strong allies with high resistance.
- Rally tactics to minimize losses:
- The host creates a squad with only one low-level hero. This keeps your wounded count to an absolute minimum.
- A player with high resistance should be the second to join the rally—they will serve as the primary striking force.
- The host enters the battle first (takes the initial hit), suffers minimal losses, but secures the first-kill reward for the group.
This approach allows you to claim valuable rewards in the early stages without burning through your troops.
First Doom Walker Defeat of the Day
Doom Walkers are an excellent source of resources. Your first daily defeat is particularly important as it provides a substantial reward bonus, including scarce Mutant Crystals
.
Important Nuances:
- Time Synchronization: The season start may lag behind the server day reset by several hours.
- Don't Rush: To avoid losing the seasonal reward, make sure you haven't killed the Doom Walker before the actual season launch in your region.
- Maximum Level: The higher the Doom Walker's level, the more rewards you receive. Try to attack the highest level possible; it’s also worth asking the strong players in your alliance for help here.
